J&J Guide Service / Two Bear Outfitters - Amazing Guided Hunts in Montana

Musselshell River

Musselshell, MT Hunting Camp

Location

This camp is located in the central part of the state near the small town of Martinsdale, MT, and is nestled between the Little Belt, Castle, and Crazy mountain ranges. By highway, we are about 120 miles northwest of Billings, MT. Here we lease the hunting rights on private and state lands, which depending on the season can range from approximately 38,000 to 65,000 acres.

Hunting and Terrain

Hunting here is for whitetail, mule deer, antelope, and elk along with waterfowl and upland birds. This is a "general license" area for elk and deer and is one of the easiest areas in the state to draw an antelope tag which makes it a great place to plan a combination hunt for those who would like the opportunity to harvest multiple species on the same hunting trip. The habitat in this part of the state consists of foothill benches, prairie grasslands, grainfields, hayfields, along with creek bottoms and river bottoms. The elevation will vary between 3500' and 6000'.

Lodging and Meals

At this camp, guests will stay in our rustic hunting lodge, a large refurbished building that was once used by the local Hutterite Colony as a dining hall. The lodge offers our guests a spectacular view of the Little Belt and Castle Mountains. The building is solid, well insulated, and spacious. Heat is provided by propane and wood. A 12-volt solar panel/battery bank system powers the water pumps and lights.  We also run a generator as needed to power WiFi, TV, Printer, CPAP machines, etc. Because the lodge is located beneath a hill, cell phone service is not always reliable; however, excellent service is available nearby and on most of the ranch. The lodge features 3 new guest bedrooms with 2 extra long twin beds per room. Each of the new rooms includes a private bathroom with a shower, sink, and toilet. All bedding is provided. Hearty, healthy breakfasts and suppers are served family-style each day in the dining room with lunches eaten in the field if unable to return to the lodge.

Staffing and Capacity

Depending on the season this camp will operate with 2 - 4 guides plus a cook and accommodate up to 8 hunters per week.
